Kitchen projects in Stitch

Nametag placemats

Check out the current issue of Quilting Arts Stitch for my pattern to make these nametag placemats, which of course double as placecards. I’ve been itching to make something like this for ages, so I was thrilled that Stitch liked them too.

Stepping Stones potholder

Also from the spring 2010 Stitch, my felt Stepping Stones potholder makes a quick hostess gift or spot of wall decor. Try cutting some of the circles from felt in houndstooth or another pattern!

Make sure not to miss my baby quilt or the other great projects in the magazine!

I love those placemats! I'll be on the lookout for that issue. I just clicked over from Craft Gossip- they really caught my eye as something that would make a great gift for families with kids.

What a Great Idea, the Nametag Placemats. How cute are those. And kids would just get a kick out of them. I'm thinking lunch get togethers and all kinds of ideas are spinning around in my head. I have never checked out the magazine before but will now. If they like your patterns/articles then it must be an interesting magazine.

Dear Kevin,

Love the idea of the stepping stones potholder. I know the directions call for wool felt. Are you using 100% wool felt or a wool/rayon blend? And do you have any suggestions for an online retailer?

Thanks...
Love your designs...

Hi Debbie-

I did use a wool/rayon blend, though 100% wool would be even better if you can find it in the colors you want. I get my felt locally, but you might try feltorama.com.

Glad you liked the project!
